It’s not easy to rattle Pat Kiernan, but this morning, the news anchor was particularly incensed at the New York Times for failing to mention NY1 in their coverage of last night’s state comptroller debate that was produced by the local news network. And apparently this isn’t the first time that the paper of record has neglected to give NY1 credit for hosting a debate.
As the broadcast journalist notes, there’s not a lot of money to be made in debates, but NY1 does them to inform the public and therefore, the least the Times can do is name drop a little. Despite his anger, this is Pat Kiernan we’re talking about, and so he told them off in a way that only Pat Kiernan would:
“[T]his morning when I refer to the newspaper published in an Eighth Avenue office building, it will be up to you to figure out the omission and which newspaper it is,” said Kiernan.
Shots fired, cordially.
