Last month, a startup called Party NYC launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for a product called Disco Dog, an LED-light-equipped vest for dogs. It seemed very silly. Now, DNAInfo reports, it’s very successful: with a little more than two days left in the campaign, the project has raised more than $5000 over its goal.
The creators of Disco Dog hoped to raise $15,000, and as of this writing have raised $21,154. 44 vests have been ordered. Prices start at $300. It’s not quite potato salad money, but it’s pretty good.
The vest is made of Neoprene and has programmable LED lights all over it. It will flash a “LOST DOG” message if its wearer runs away, which it inevitably will, because no dog wants to be seen with someone who thinks it’s cool to put it in a Lite Brite vest.
