Starting next month, if you get into an elevator going to the observatory at the top of One World Trade Center, you’ll get to witness 500 years of change compressed into 47 seconds. The video, shown here via the New York Times, begins in the 1500s when Manhattan is all forest and reaches the present at the top. At one point, there’s a four-second glimpse of Two World Trade Center, which offers a chilling reminder that the original incarnation of the building you’re in was destroyed. The video was created by the Hettema Group and Blur Studio.
