Nail Salon Owner Bullied Into Changing Name From ‘ISIS Nails’

May 5, 2015 | Liam Mathews

People sure are dumb. According to the New York Post, Sharlene Tse, the owner of a Queens nail salon, changed the name of her business from “ISIS Nails” to “Bess Nails and Spa” after months of harassment from people who were either trolls and/or legitimately thought the nail salon was somehow connected to the Islamic State.

“Before we changed the name, we had a lot of people taking pics and coming to harass me,” she told the Post. “They said, ‘You have no shame! Don’t you know what happened, they cut off people’s heads!’”

Isis is an Egyptian deity who has been referenced since antiquity and has absolutely no connection to the Islamic State, which is not even officially known as ISIS. Tse chose the name “ISIS” when she opened the business in 2010 because she thought it was “unique and simple.”

She should have stuck with it. Remember in Office Space, when Michael Bolton said “why should I change? He’s the one who sucks.” Same principle applies here. Anyone who harassed her should have to join ISIS as punishment.
