This sounds like the beginning of a Law & Order episode: The New York Daily News reports that a coffin full of bones and garbage was discovered on the sidewalk in front of a house in Bushwick early Tuesday morning.
Police were unable to immediately confirm that the bones were human. Medical examiners are currently analyzing the bones, but it seems reasonable to assume they are human, since the coffin was found a block away from the Cemetery of the Evergreens and it’s generally humans that are buried in coffins.
Cops examining the cemetery didn’t find any evidence of grave tampering, but it’s a big cemetery.
Nobody knows who dumped a casket with no body in it. Investigation is ongoing 2 find the people responsible. Not Cool pic.twitter.com/RgOJiQk6oh

(Sidenote: this tweet is kind of unprofessional, right? Twitter’s casual, but it shouldn’t be that casual if you’re the police.)
