Prospect Park residents are forever on the lookout for those creepy goat heads, so perhaps that’s why someone raised the alarm on a dude who was grilling a guinea pig for lunch on Saturday.
DNAinfo reports that police got an emergency call about a guy abusing squirrels in the park, but when they got to the scene at around 9:30 AM, they found an Ecuadorian man roasting a small animal on a barbecue skewer. It’s illegal to hunt animals found in the park, and the guinea pig is similar in size and shape to a squirrel, so it’s (sort of?) easy to see how the confusion happened. Since the man was within the park’s designated area for grilling, he wasn’t doing anything illegal, and the cops left.

While guinea pigs are considered pets in America, the rodent is part of the cuisine in South America. However, in recent years, it’s been gaining popularity among restaurateurs and ranchers in America.
