Here’s Video of the NYPD In Hot Pursuit of a Carriage Horse In Manhattan

October 20, 2014 | Rhett Jones

On Sunday morning, a carriage horse got away from its handler and led police cars on a chase up 11th Avenue as pedestrians and motorists watched the spectacle unfold.

Allie Feldman, Executive Director of NYCLASS, who’s leading the charge to have carriage horses banned, promptly released a statement:

This is the latest example of why horse drawn carriages are not just inhumane, but entirely unsafe in a city congested with cars, trucks and buses. It’s time for the City Council to act and get the carriage horses off the streets of New York City.

Regardless of how one feels about the carriage horse industry, it’s just common sense that the proposed electric car replacement isn’t likely to take off down the street, causing chaos for everyone involved. (Photo: NYCLASS)
