New Web Series Shows How Absurdly We Behave On Social Media

November 26, 2014 | Prachi Gupta

While it may feel like social media has taken over your life, a new web series shows you just how much worse it could be. Indiewire reports that Gilbert Gottfried and Tom Sizemore star in Life In Your Social Network, a series that illustrates what life would be like if every interaction IRL was like an interaction on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.

Here’s the series description:

The first three episodes are set at a cocktail party where the main character, Steve Olson, face a number of odd interactions, as if real life imitated that of his social networks. In episode two, to be released in the coming weeks, Tom Sizemore teaches Steve a lesson about the importance of celebrity on social media.

While the first episode has promise, it’s yet to be seen if a series with a premise built on flighty and shallow social media interactions will be able to hold a plot or develop characters. Then again, people said you couldn’t say something substantive in 140-characters or less, and look how much Twitter has changed the world. And this show’s only got, what, five characters? Pssh.
