Writer John Millward has compiled what may be the biggest-ever statistical study of the porn industry. By extracting data from the Internet Adult Film Database–the IMDB of pornography–he’s come up with some big-picture generalities about the kinds of on-screen sex the world likes to watch.
For starters, there’s the above image, a facial morph of the industry’s top 10 performers. The result seems about right–an anonymous brunette woman who’s attractive without any particularly distinguishing features. He’s also come up with the demographic average for a female adult performer: a 5’5″ white woman with brunette hair who got into the industry when she was 22 years old. She weighs 117 pounds, has B-cup breasts, and is from California. Her name: Nikki Lee.
There’s also the statistically average male porn star: David Lee (Nikki’s brother?), a 5’10”, a 167.5-pound man who got into the industry at age 24 and has made 16 films.
Millward has compiled a ton more data–stats on porn star prolificacy, popular film titles, and searched-for keywords, among many other things–and compiled it all into a large, staggeringly comprehensive infographic, which you can check out here.
