Photographer Maurice Van Es recently put together this collection of photos he found in Sandy’s aftermath. He posted them online in hopes of tracing them back to their original owners. What a guy.
Notice how the storm-inflicted damage almost superimposes an out-of-place hurricane aesthetic into the photographed scenes themselves — the warped film seems to manifest itself as flying rubble and rain. It’s pretty uncanny. Check out the rest of Van Es’ photography here.
[Ed. note]: Photos removed at the request of a one Jeannette Van Houten, take it up with her.
