Massive Attack V Adam Curtis (2013, at Park Avenue Armory)
Adam Curtis “documentary” W GIANT IMPORTANT WORDS — a beautiful pulsating super-cut of found-ish footage re: NEWS/GOVERNMENTS/DONALD TRUMP/THE SARCOPHAGUS OF DATA/RUSSIAN PUNK MUSIC FROM SIBERIA/ALGORITHMS OF SUBMISSION/WAR IN AFGHANISTAN… USA/RUSSIA/YOU.. etc. on many LARGE screens. U stand 4 movie but its really a concert. Massive Attack and guests perform a live score behind some of the screens and u r like ♪(┌・。・)┌ watching this movie ♪┌(・。・)┘♪ then oh shit #politics and then (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ #feelings.

They covered Bauhaus, Dusty Springfield and Suicide. And Гражданская Оборона. And Янка. Fucking Liz fucking Fraser from fucking Cocteau Twins sang Янка! See? Fucking FUCK fuck FUCK. I want all my movie experiences to be like this now. Ruined now.
POLITICAL MESSAGE: 3.5 out of 5.0
I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore either. Adam Curtis u r so emo. Eloquent pithy summation of a complex and epic artistic interpretation of the dismal trajectory of history ending in a conflicting neural orgasm and confetti, something something The New York Times. Glad I didn’t eat any drugs because the existential crisis ™ would have been too rooted in precise singular historical incidents and nothing you eat to fix that fixed that.
RUSSOPHOBIPHILIA: 4.5 out of 5.0
The Russian avant-garde punk scenester that brought Putin to power and started all these opposition parties so many opposition parties that there is no opposition not really so if you vote against Putin you are voting for Putin you asshole you asshole! Russia, you are such a rich tapestry of aesthetically specific socio-visual props. Like the lo-fi vids of kids in front of wall carpets. And rosy-cheeked Russian-dancing Russians. And the gulags forever.
