That was fast. The door on Freeman Street where Banksy put his “Plato” piece in Greenpoint has already been completely removed, hinges and all, leaving an empty entranceway. Michael, the owner of the building (he didn’t want to give a last name), said he’d be taking the door off the premises, and that he didn’t even notice the piece until people started coming by to look at it.
Apparently, the owner had previously tried to cover the door with a metal plate. What’s worse: the door eventually showing up on the auction block somewhere, or OMAR arriving to tag it up?
