Here’s the first official trailer of dir. Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin starring pale creepy brunette Scarlett Johansson. This is the entire plot synopsis:
An alien seductress preys upon hitchhikers in Scotland.
For those of us uninitiated to the Michel Faber novel that inspired the film, this abstract trailer says nothing besides that her victims would rather dive into an infinite blob of undulating mirror goo than to let that lingerie-clad alien strut any closer. The surreal vibe is Nicolas Roeg’s Man Who Fell To Earth meets Kubrick meets X-Files, drowning in gorgeous special effects under “mind-blowing” and “meaningful” critical acclaim quotes, drowning out the babe-bait element a bit with all its mind-blowing gorgeous meaning.
Under the Skin hits New York theaters April 4th.
