Why should you wait until the end of your taxi ride to pay the fare? There’s plenty of time to swipe your card on the way, and it’s not like you’re planning on dodging, right?
Turns out, you don’t have to. Quartz has detailed instructions for paying while you ride here, but it basically boils down to this: tap the fare on the Taxi TV screen, swipe your card, and select a tip, just like you would ordinarily. And just in case your cabbie tries to gouge you after you’ve already paid, you can cancel the swipe at any time before your destination. Voila! You just saved yourself like 15 whole seconds.
