Future Unfolding is a new game from Berlin’s Spaces Of Play studio, the people behind Spirits among others. The game is an impressionistic exploration of natural surroundings, based on the landscape designers Mattias Ljungström and Marek Plichta grew up around in rural Sweden and Poland. The preview promises vivid colors and sound-interactive environments with sublime, shifting music. Future Unfolding is played from a childlike perspective of open mindedness and curiosity, but underneath the bucolic exterior there is a darkness that haunts these lands. The designers told Creative Applications:
We believe that mystery is created when you have all the facts, but you don’t know how to put them together to understand the current situation. In the same way Future Unfolding paints a world full of life, which follows an underlying logic but where not all connections are immediately clear to the player. We place the player into a world filled with surreal events, mystical places, strange characters and philosophical questions. This leads to speculation about meaning and importance. The player has to connect the dots to draw the bigger picture.
Future Unfolding will be out sometime in 2015 on PC, Mac, and Linux, and you can follow creator Marek Plichta on Vine for updates.
