After dropping a 2-song cover EP in February, Bluesy Brookyln-based punk rocker Shilpa Ray is about to release an 11-track album inspired, in part, by Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Ray, who sings and plays the harmonium alongside her four-piece band, became a phenomenon on the indie rock circuit in 2011 after Nick Cave discovered her act. Her forthcoming album, Last Year’s Savage, will be released on May 19 via Northern Spy Records.
