We can’t resist these haunting preview images from the Brussels-based Harlan Levey Projects‘ upcoming exhibit. On Paraphotography: Uncertainty, The Uncanny, & The Occult is a collection of photos that pay homage to the dark allure of the occult underworld.
The show will feature original work from artists Tereza Zelenkova, Paulina Otylie Surys, Joel-Peter Witkin and Jeffrey Silverthorne; along with selected photos from the private collection of vintage dealer Brad Feuerhelm. Oh hai, Anton LaVey.
Can the radical idealism inherent to occult be catalogued into a manuscript of aesthetic strategy? If you’re going to be in Belgium before April 3rd, you may eventually be able to answer this question.
And remember, in the words of Eliphas Levi (via the show’s Flickr): Order is never observed; it is disorder that attracts attention because it is awkward and intrusive.
