French singer Soko (Stéphanie Sokolinski) has just released a short film in collaboration with Arial Pink and marine activist Hannah Frase who performs in Vegas as a mermaid. Soko directed Monster Love, a tale of the shit that happens when you send a deceptively attractive photo of yourself to someone from the internet you’re trying to woo and how whatever that love stuff is peels away all the monstrous manifestations of your character or something like that, I don’t know.
We were friends, falling in love, but he was just out of a relationship and I—as always—was broken hearted. We hadn’t shed the heaviness of our past. I imagined that after relationships, we all turn into some sort of monster, and only if we stop being monstrous will we ever be able to be real lovers again.
