Two men suffering Ebola-like symptoms at an NYC address were put in isolation at Bellevue Hospital this morning, but it’s now clear that they are not infected with the deadly virus.
Bellevue spokesman Ian Michaels tells the Daily News that “there are no patients at Bellevue with Ebola, two patients… were evaluated and it was quickly determined that they did not have the virus.” He did not explain what symptoms they were displaying but sources say they were believed to have recently returned from Africa.
This is the second time someone has been quarantined in NYC. On Friday, a Brooklyn teen was suspected of having Ebola and taken to Brookdale Hospital. Despite having determined he does not have the disease, he remains in isolation.
Saturday, JFK airport began requiring Ebola screenings for passengers traveling from three West African countries. If a passenger refuses the screening they’ll be held in isolation for up to 3 weeks or sent back to their home country.
