‘Abraham Obama’ Hung On White House Christmas Tree
Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey interviewed the First Family for her “Christmas at the White House” special and while touring the presidential residence, the camera panned in on a particularly eye-catching ornament adorned with the artwork of billboard liberator and Popagandist Ron English. A decoupage of his iconic “Abraham Obama” was spotted on one of the 27 Christmas trees as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Michelle Obama said they sent out blank ball ornaments to “nonprofits and such” where they were decorated and sent back.

Just minutes ago, a skywriting plane flew over the city, leaving a puffy trail of text in its wake: the word “cloud” repeated over and over again. Here’s a photo from Crown Heights of the unidentified plane’s aerial scrawl, also reportedly seen somewhere in Queens. The performance is reminiscent of the cloud drawings artist Vik Muniz flew over Manhattan in 2000, but it’s not clear who’s responsible, just that their work was blown away as quickly as it came. Update: Artist Ron English took credit for the sky tagging project.

Popagandist Ron English created quite a stir with his Abraham Lincoln-Barack Obama mutations. First there was the monotone print followed by the colorized versions. Then the vinyl busts reared their heads. Now that iconic presidential combination is being offered in a pewter version. They’re limited to an edition of 50 and can be pre-ordered HERE for $200. |Obama Art Report|
