Andy Warhol’s First Sketch Ever Is on eBay

Sometime last year, Andy Fields stumbled upon what he claims to be an early sketch by internationally renowned artist Andy Warhol. The sketch was purchased as part of a series of unidentified drawings and has since been sent to the Andy Warhol Foundation for authentication.

However, despite the opinions of numerous experts from auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Bonhams, the drawing’s provenance  still goes unanswered. In lieu of these doubts, the drawing is currently being auctioned on eBay with a starting bid of £1,250,000. That’s nearly $2,000,000! Not bad for a $5 investment.

If the drawing of singer and actor Rudy Vallee is authentic, it could effectively move the birth of Pop Art nearly almost two decades, showing that Warhol has been experimenting with the style since childhood.

The seller is claiming that it is the “earliest known pop art piece that Andy Warhol ever created.”
