Genesis P-Orridge Reading Tonight: “A Controversial Lifetime of Memories”

March 10, 2014 | Sophie Weiner

Tonight, artist Genesis P-Orridge will be reading from h/er new multimedia book of previously unreleased photos, poetry and music tonight, as part of the House of O series hosted by Japanese restaurant Maison O on the Lower East Side, home to the “secret” basement club Stardust Lounge. The book includes 69 pages of collaborative work from the “gender-erasing pandrogyne” Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and late partner Lady Jaye (some of it featured in their show at the Warhol Museum), along with intimate photographs and other artifacts.

Later on in the night there will be voguing, DJs and appearances by a slew of downtown celebs including Amanda Lepore and performer Thorgy Thor. There’s even an open sake bar from 10 – 11 pm. Conversation and meeting new friends is encouraged. So, if you’re not heading to SXSW on this disappointingly cold Monday evening, it will be a nice distraction.
