Post No Bills

“Post No Bills” notices on construction sites are so ubiquitous in the city, they are largely ignored. But, individually, they’re sort of interesting in their variations of fonts, applications and the amount of vandalism they’re subjected to. I went around Manhattan — through 42nd Street in Midtown to Lafayette in NoHo and over through SoHo via Houston down to Mulberry St — and collected a few. Some are hand-scribbled or affixed as signs. Some are neatly spray-painted through a stencil and others applied with sloppy bleeding paint. These are reminiscent of the street art process, only in the end, all you got is three boring words no one really listens to. See all the “Post No Bills” notices together in the gallery above and check back every Friday for a new photo essay. (Photos: Aymann Ismail/ANIMALNewYork)
