People Shot In Every Borough This Weekend

June 30, 2014 | Marina Galperina

At least 20 people were shot in New York City over the weekend, with incidents in every borough. There were nine shooting victims in Brooklyn, five in Manhattan, four in the Bronx, one in Queens and one on Staten Island. Three have died.

The total number of shootings so far in 2014 is lower than it was last year at this time, when the rate of stop-and-frisk was higher. Police commissioner William Bratton stated that there will be 1,200 additional officers on the streets this week, including the 600 new officers graduating from the Police Academy today. The rookies will be paired up with vets and sent directly into the city’s most dangerous neighborhoods.

Among those injured were a 10-year-old in Coney Island, a 16-year-old in Harlem, and a 12-year-old in the Concourse Village section of the Bronx. (Photo: @ykjc9)
