Computer Chess (2013)

Andrew Bujalski mumblecored again, into an ’80s tournament between the newest chess-playing computer terminals. Hotel o’ Geeks. ADVENTURES! “Have you ever taken LSD?” Smart, so smart. Surrealism. Or is it? If you like chess, programming or thinking, see this film. If you like film, see this film. If you film, see this film. If film, this film. THIS FILM!!! Film.

ART DIRECTION: 5 out of 5.0

Film was shot with a Sony AVC 3260 tube video camera circa 1968 because. Starts like a real doc, goes hard like an art film. Haha, editing. Woah, editing. Conceptually deliberate slippage in POV and synchronicity IT’S FUCKING IMMACULATE BRO

FEMALE REPRESENTATION: 3.5 out of 5.0

There’s a lady. It’s hard out there for a lady but is ok. True story.

EXISTENTIAL CRISIS LIKELIHOOD:  4.5 out of 5.0
