“#FUTUREMYTH” opens tonight at Brooklyn’s tech-minded art gallery 319 Scholes. Playing off the Jung concept that “the collective unconscious is a conditioned state,” the exhibit focuses on “meta-realities” created in the “communal space of the internet.” 319 Scholes curatorial director Lindsay Howard tells ANIMAL that most of the works have been specifically made for this show. There is no documentation of it yet. Fresh art. Come and get it.
The last two shows we covered at 319 Scholes have been solid: #GodMode 48-Hour Art Hack Day blew our minds with on-the-spot collaborative programing-based interactive projects and installations; Bunny Rogers and Filip Olszewski’s “If I Die Young” show is the single exhibit successfully addressing the objectification of children on the internet through found-media-based art objects that we can think of.
There’s a hefty, exciting roster of artists at this newest group show and we’re excited. A special exhibition site has been set up to feature an original “Incantations of a Mythic Thaumaturgy” essay by insurgent archivist Adam Rothstein.
