This Fireworks Festival Looks Dangerous

February 24, 2014 | Marina Galperina

This fireworks festival happens once a year at the end of the Chinese New Year in the Yanshui District of Tainan City, Taiwan. “Here, thousands of bottle rockets are ignited from a ‘beehive’ to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck to those who are in the path of the rockets,” Farnworth writes. Those who are in the path of the rockets are wearing motorcycle helmets and DIY capes and are dancing wildly as the fireworks ricochet over and through the crowd. “Good luck” indeed.
