Mitik, the orphaned baby walrus who made the trip from Alaska to NYC in 2012, only to have its New York Aquarium home battered by the waters of Hurricane Sandy, will be leaving the city for a spell. As repairs to the Aquarium are completed, he’ll be shipped to a new home in San Antonio, Texas.
The good news: when fixes to the hurricane-ravaged aquarium on Coney Island are completed, he’ll be returned to his adopted home. The bad: that’s not expected to happen until 2016. Here’s a ridiculously cute video to remember him by.
